Kathryn F. (Taylor) Abernethy joined The Noble Law employment law firm in January 2017 following more than 15 years in the defense bar at large international law firms. As a defense attorney, Ms. Abernethy has defended claims arising under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and ERISA, among other employment-related statutes. She also has extensive experience litigating claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment and defamation, among other causes of action that frequently arise in employment law matters. Her clients have included Wall Street banks, major automotive companies and health care systems.
Ms. Abernethy has litigated cases in State and Federal Courts all over the United States, from Manhattan to San Francisco, and from Detroit to Dallas. She also has extensive experience in arbitration, mediation and in courts of appeals. She is admitted to practice before the State Bars of both North Carolina and Illinois, and in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Circuits. She is currently an Adjunct Professor teaching E-Discovery at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, and has written and presented on topics relating to e-discovery, civil procedure, insurance coverage and the Medicare payment process.
Ms. Abernethy received her J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 2001. She graduated Order of the Coif (top 10% of law school graduating class), and was an Articles Editor for the Washington University Law Quarterly. She has a Bachelor of Arts in History from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. While practicing as an employment attorney in Chicago, Ms. Abernethy was named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers Magazine in 2010 and 2011.
